Lovett and Lynch Named
Carson Stewart Honorees
Their names were interchangeable for
youth growing up in Bridesburg. Like
peanut butter and jelly, ice cream and cake,
keilbasi and kraut – Lovett and Lynch,
Lynch and Lovett are part of Bridesburg’s
social fabric. Men you may not always
notice, but would surely miss if they were
not around to get it done.
Recognized as two of the founding
fathers of the Father’s Club, these two men
made team sports fun. Kids felt wanted
even if he or she weren’t the best athlete.
Spending countless hours teaching, coaching,
refereeing and stressing the fundamentals
of baseball and basketball, they
taught our youth lessons. According to the
dictionary:
Coach (n.) a person who trains an athlete
or a team of athletes.
Referee (n.) a person who controls basketball,
baseball matches Messrs. Lovett
and Lynch not only performed those
duties, they excelled at them. They trained
and controlled us not only in sports - in
character, sportsmanship and the importance
of fair play. To hold our heads high in
defeat – but not too high in victory.
Spikes - $30; Glove - $40; Sunday baseball
practice at the Rec – Priceless.
Basketball games at Bridesburg School– again, Priceless.
While both deserve individual accolades
for their dedication, commitment and perspiration
to and for Bridesburg youth, the
Bridesburg Boys & Girls Club is proud to
name them co-honorees of the 2007 Carson
Stewart Award for Service to Youth and
Community.
